Palm oil soap is the most commonly used soap in Nigeria in addition to liquid soaps.They are used for washing of clothes,plates,pots,kitchen utensils and many other purposes.In fact it is the most widely used soap.Some families which cannot afford to buy the higher grade of soap like premier and luz depends solely on palm oil soap.

Soap production has to go through a process called saponification and is the process by which caustic soda react with oil to form soap and glycerol.Palm oil soap passes through a process known as cold process.

PRECAUTION
Lye is corrosive wear protective covering,put on the eye Goggle before mixing the lye or sodium hydroxide,also wear your hand grooves to prevent the lye from burning your skin.Put on your safety boat and your cover all.Make sure you work in a ventilated environment.

(2)Palm oil 750 milligrams
(3)water 300 milligrams
(4)Fragrances (drops)
CHEMISTRY OF THE REACTION
Saponification:
Hydrolysis of fat and oils wil yields propan-1,2,3-trol and the corresponding sodium and potassium salts of the components fatty acids.These salts are the principal constituents of soap.This process is also known as saponification.

PRODUCTION OF SOAP WITH UNBLEACHED PALM OIL 750 miligram (eva bottle medium size)
Measure 200 grams of lye commonly called caustic soda and dissolve in water inside a bowl while stirring stored in a cool dry place for two weeks.
At the end of the two weeks,measure 750 milligrams of unbleached palm oil into a bowl.Kindly transfer your lye solution into the unbleach palm oil and stir the mixtures till it becomes sticky,add your fragrance and stir.At this point red palm oil soap have been form. Now transfer your soap into molds such as hair creams containers or tin milk containers that have had their top covers removed.
PRODUCTION OF SOAP WITH BLEACHED PALM OIL 750 MILIGRAMS (Eva bottle medium size)
Measure 200 grams of lye commonly called caustic soda and dissolve in water inside a bowl while stirring stored in a cool dry place for two weeks.At the end of the two weeks,measure 750 milligrams of bleach palm oil into a bowl,refer to blog post on how to bleach palm.Kindly transfer your lye solution into the bleach palm oil and stir the mixtures till it becomes sticky,add your fragrance and stir.At this point white palm oil soap have been form.Now transfer your soap into molds such as hair creams containers or tin milk containers that have had their top covers removed.
